A coragem da verdade: quando um cão diz mais do que mil palavras / Negro matapacos: From student protest partner to symbol of struggle and resistance in chilean demonstrations
Keywords:

The image of a black dog with a red bandana on his neck is spread throughout Chile following the recent social crisis that began in October 2019. It is about a black dog of the streets called Negro Matapacos, who, although he became well known in the social medias by the protest of students in 2011, today he is recognized nationally and internationally as a symbol of struggle in social protest for rights and also as a symbol of resistance against state repression. But would the massification of this dog’s image of simple tributes be treated? Or could it be a break in paradigms as we manifest ourselves, do we feel identified with those dogs that accompany us on the streets? Maybe it’s about that: they have abandoned us, they treat us like dogs and in the streets we have the right to bark.
