uma resposta a recente teoria francesa do cuidado na ética animal

Resumo

Recentemente, teorias francesas têm contribuído com o feminismo americano atrelado à tradição do cuidado na ética animal. Algumas destas considerações são, no entanto, mal concebidas e permitem, por exemplo, a aprovação qualificada do consumo de carne, bem como a valorização de Temple Grandin e de Aldo Leopold como paradigmas da teoria do cuidado. As considerações francesas dão errado, sustenta a autora, pois elas falham no que concerne à incorporação, em suas deliberações éticas, da “voz da diferença” dos animais, a qual corresponde ao coração da teoria americana do cuidado animal. Escutar esta voz consiste em necessariamente se opor ao consumo da carne e à morte de animais em vista da utilidade humana (atitudes que, pelo contrário, são endossadas por Grandin e Leopold).  Ao criticar os trabalhos franceses, a autora contribuí, refina e clarifica a teoria americana do cuidado atinente à ética animal.
