Abstract

This cartography critically analyzes Tras el rastro animal, Baptiste Morizot’s first book translated into Spanish. We begin by reconstructing the context of discussion in which the writing is inserted, making explicit the contribution made by Morizotian philosophy from its perspective of animality. Likewise, we highlight the interrelation between Morizot’s “philosophical tracing”, his metaphysical-political commitment, and the essay style with which he knits his book. Then we analyze in detail the different chapters that make up Tras el rastro animal, taking as a common thread the metamorphosis that are taking place in each one. Thus, we go through the deception of the wolf, the voracity of the bear, the patience of the leopard, the tracks of a pack, the daily life of the worm, and we end with the animality of the human. We conclude this cartography by appreciating the contribution that the incorporation of this contemporary author implies for the Spanish-speaking critical animal studies.
