The zoological frame:
between indistinction and indiscernibility
Keywords:
animal politics, indistinction, indiscernibility, zoological frameAbstract
This article intends, through a comparative study between Giorgio Agamben’s concept of of zone of indistinction and Gilles Deleuze’s concept of zone of indiscernibility, to problematize the different conceptions of politics that emerge from them. Using Gregory Bateson's theory of framing and paradoxes and its application by Brian Massumi to the discussion of the possibility of a human-animal policy, the main objective is the elaboration of a political idea capable of circumventing the anthropocentric boundaries - the zoological frame - of the biopolitical paradigm in view of a multispecies politics of life. The article ends with a problematization of the entire journey from a personal testimony of the zoological framework.
