The industrial grange, the biopower and the dispositive of security
Keywords:
non-human animals, biopower, securityAbstract
This work shows the operation of the biopower in industrial granges based on the spatial rationality of security dispositive, which controls, normalizes, regulates, and ensures the lives of non-human animals. This means that the existence of non-human animals is inscribed in the right to make live, which is linked to reproductive biotechnologies. Thus, the reproduction of animals allows the biopower to control the entirety of life. In addition, it states that control is deployed based on measures and regulations establishing criteria for the management of the animal population on industrial farms. Finally, from this, we question what are the elements that make the biopower, whose main objective is to make live, a power of death. The speciesism and the figure of the animal-machine support the understanding of this process of death.
