Reflexiones e intuiciones sobre la empatía en los animales. Una perspectiva fenomenológica

Resumen

Se presentan dos reflexiones interconectadas que tienen como meta analizar el fenómeno de la empatía en los animales y cómo los seres humanos les atribuimos dicho proceso. Para lograr esto, se ponen sobre la mesa de discusión los supuestos filosóficos que históricamente han impedido entender a los animales como seres mentalmente complejos. Para comprender cómo ocurre y se manifiesta la empatía se retoman algunos elementos de la filosofía fenomenológica, principalmente la propuesta de una relación coconstituyente entre cuerpo y mente. También se recurre al concepto de intuición y su importancia en la atribución de empatía. Se concluye que la empatía no ocurre solo en la mente, sino que implica un estar y ser de cierta forma con el cuerpo, en el mundo y con los otros; en este sentido, la empatía sería un fenómeno corporizado y socialmente situado.
