Resumo

A pesca constitui um poderoso significante tanto social como psicológico na sociedade moderna ocidental. A literatura que trata sobre a pesca é um gênero que usualmente incorpora a representação dos peixes e da pesca em relação à exploração da condição humana, tocando temas como a religião, a masculinidade e a natureza como terapia. Esse artigo indaga sobre as formas pelas quais essas relações negam o reconhecimento do peixe como um animal com capacidade de sentir dor e sofrimento.
